NEWS & NOTES
Vol. I, Issue 1 | November 2007
Editor's Note

Welcome to the first edition of NEWS & NOTES, a monthly publication of the Santa Clara Valley Blind Center (SCVBC).

This monthly newsletter is designed to:
Keep the community abreast of activities and developments at SCVBC.
Relay developments in eye care and eye disease prevention.
Opportunity to advertise your own events and activities to thousands of companies and people at low cost while supporting SCVBC.

Who is SCVBC?

The mission of SCVBC is to increase the independence, confidence, and quality of life of the blind and visually impaired through educational, recreational, and rehabilitative programs.

Every 7 minutes, someone loses the ability to drive, read a newspaper, write a letter, browse the Internet, work, go to school, or even move safely around their home and community. This is a result of these individuals losing part, or all, of their sight. For this community, there is no medicine, no surgery, and no eyewear that can assist them in regaining their functional vision. These individuals must relearn how to function without the use of their eyes, and this is precisely the purpose of SCVBC.

SCVBC is unique in the South Bay in providing services and support to individuals with sight loss to regain, and maintain, their independence and confidence. SCVBC is ultimately the bridge between a life of isolation and fear, and a quality of life that is productive and satisfying.
