Grant Updates and Facility Renovation Progress

Santa Clara Valley Blind Center was notified that it has been awarded a grant for our Living with Vision Loss program from THE HEALTH TRUST OF SANTA CLARA VALLEY. Thank you for your partnership and support in 2008 as we strive to provide more services for the blind and visually impaired!

The Center’s new roof is being installed as this newsletter is being drafted! The renovation in the south wing and lobby is nearly complete. The remaining renovation extends into the east wing, parking lot, and walkways. The center has submitted a grant to cover the completion of the final work to be done to the center, in addition to grant monies already acquired through the Cities of San Jose, Santa Clara, and Mountain View. Clients, staff, and the community are looking forward to finalizing the renovation of the Center and readying it for the next 50 years. In total, the renovation cost for the full upgrades totals $1.4 million, which accounts for why the Center has taken this long to finalize the renovation. Be ready for a big party when we are done!

Agency Calendar & Holiday Closure

The Center will be closed for the holiday break from December 24 through January 4, reopening on January 7. Best wishes for a tremendously enjoyable Holiday Season to all, and see you in the New Year! - The Staff at Santa Clara Valley Blind Center.
